Did you know that the British say ‘schedule’ the exact way that it its spelled? HA! Had me in stitches a few nights ago.
Eesh, was the whole ‘driving on the wrong side of the road’ thing a transition. Had a few mishaps, some not helped by how narrow British roads are. But I got the hang of it. Still can’t wait to get back on the right side of the spacious American roads.
But don’t get me wrong. I have liked the UK and all. Drove to Bath from Heathrow on Tuesday to my B & B. Wow is Bath cool. Its Georgian/Roman architecture was amazing. Its a huge departure from London and more of a college town. Plus, except for the restaurants and some pubs, everything is dead after about 7 PM local time. Either way, I’d totally go back.
Also watched Starter At 10 and City of God while in Bath. The first one was ok, but the second one was amazing. So well done.
After leaving Bath on Thursday I broke up the hour-trek to Thornbury with a quick trip to Bristol and saw their famed cathedral. Definitely want to return and see more of the city.
The Cotswolds were cool. Would have explored more, but my lower back has not been my friend on this trip. Started acting up in London, but got a bit worse in Madrid. But I digress…
The first two towns I saw were very cool and medieval. The latter two were nothing to write home about. Note to self. When a travel guide thinks walking through the scenic conuntryside for an hour was gorgeous when the trek could take 5 minutes by car, go with the latter option!
Again, another trip to see some of the other Cotswold villages will have to happen. Tomorrow I’m off to get smart at Oxford. This is only a daytrip so I’ll have to squeeze in as much sightseeing as I can.
On a positive note, I was able to get more editing done once I returned to the UK. Plus, I started on the book outline for the second book of another novel series I’m cooking up. Can’t wait to piece this one together. Anyway, off to bed soon.
