Another sci-fi show bites the dust.

Well this sucks. Looks like SyFy is getting rid of almost all their shows that I actually watch. First Caprica, now Stargate Universe.

Even worse, the cast found online like everyone else. Real classy SyFy!

It seems like the SyFy Channel is destined to be the home of lukewarm sci-fi comedies, laughable Saturday night movies and every asinine version of Ghost Hunters known to man.

The sad thing is that SGU was finally becoming interesting and we the fans were getting a more solid series arc instead of the vague ‘Destiny has a mission from the Ancients.’ My guess, the aversion from old-school Stargate fas, the time slot (why they moved it from a comfortable Friday spot is beyond me) and those that dismissed it as ‘Stargate Galactica’ killed the show dead.

This all leads back to what I wrote earlier about sci-fi on network TV, but it clearly can be applied to cable channels as well.

Will we see a higher concept sci-fi show that isn’t afraid to drill deep into their characters’ pathis and doesn’t just go for cheap laughs like most of SyFy’s current line-up? Who knows? But I doubt that show will even come from the SyFy Channel.
