Got back from seeing Prince at the Forum in LA. He’s been playing a string of shows in Los Angeles for th oast two months and is halfway through his tour. Now I may not have been to a lot of concerts in my life, but DAMN can that guy command a crowd!!
All it took was a hip swivel at times, and the crowd errupted. At times, near the end of the concert, he got so into the sing, he’d throw down his mike. And the fans ATE IT UP likes it was ice cream. It was an experience. Such positive energy. The crown was just LIVE.
Also cool, Prince invited Halle Berry up on stage and she tore it up. Its great to see a living legend like Prince still bring the house down.
Also, really brought home why actors and musiciands and sports stars make so much damn money. Because while what these celebrities do (entertainment) isn’t a commodity like say teaching, its adds value to people’s lives. It makes people feel good. It offers an escape from their daily lives. And anything that offers both, no matter how ephemeral, will make people pay ridiculous costs.
