In case you’ve heard, Warner Bros is at it again with another attempt at bringing Wonder Woman to the small screen, and on the CW. Only this time, the plan is to give Diana the ‘Smallville’ treatment and show her days as a teenager before becoming Wonder Woman. You can read all about it here. However, WB caused all WW fans to have a massive internet freak-out when the casting call for pre-Wonder Woman was named ‘Iris’ instead of Diana. I was one of those whose scorn was incurred. But WB quickly assured everyone that ‘Iris’ was just a codename given the covert nature of the project. Huh. My thoughts on this new version of Wonder Woman?
Its a terrible idea, and proves again that there is no solid plan in place for the DC Comic Cinematic Universe. I’m guessing Wonder Woman will be in the JLA movie set to hit theaters in the summer of 2015. With that being said, why is there not a focus on bringing her to the big screen. That, in my opinion, should be Warners’ priority, not another CW show. They will never be able to do justice to the scope needed for Wonder Woman on television, especially if we are delving into the Greek/Roman mythology aspect of that character.
After the colossal flop that was Green Lantern, WB should still be focusing on building up their non-Superman and Batman characters so that people will give two shits about the other JLA members. Wonder Woman, who is the most popular DC Comic superheroine, should be next in line,. Yet, we’re getting another TV show. Oh well.
Onto other news from this week, I heard that there’s a Flight of the Navigator remake. To be honest with you, I would be totally up for an update to a film that I loved as a kid. My issue is just that I’m so over remakes nowadays. More importantly, I’m so over the amount of remakes (bad ones) to original movie ideas. Let’s have some balance, okay? We’ve seen low budget films like Looper and District 9, original ideas that went on to amass huge success. With that type of proof, why would anyone want to see another bad remake that adds nothing to the films story and is actually worse than the original? Crimany…
As for my own stuff, I’m working on the latest version of the first Star Brigade book as well as a short story. I’m hoping to churn out a few more shorts before the end of 2012 as well as get some serious headway on Star Brigade so I can get it out to all y’all. Anyhow, till next time folks!
