The Novella

Season 4 of True Blood is off to an interesting start. I really liked the 2nd episode more than the first. (SPOILER ALERT) We got a flashback of how Bill became King of Louisiana, plus we see how much of a threat these witches are to our resident vamps. Coolio. However, the Hotshot storyline and Crystal and her brother-cousin inbred hillbilly crap needs to go. I’m DONE with that mess.

Still watching Falling Skies. For now. I’m feeling the same way about this show that I did about Fringe early Season 1. Meh. It hasn’t done enough to turn me off yet. But I still need more of a reason to care about these characters and the stakes they’re facing, which I still am not feeling yet. I’ll give it a few more episodes.

So I finally started my new writing project. Took me long enough. Ha! I’m hoping to accomplish two things with this:
1.) To experiment at writing contemporary fiction. No speculative fiction bells and whistles. No aliens.
2.) To write more with less words. I tend to overdescribe, which works great with sci-fi. But If I can be more spartan but just as effective with less in my writing, then its always a good thing.

This story came to me almost two years ago during a vacation in South America. In fact, it practically wrote itself in my head within the span of a day and a half. Crazy, right? The only reason I held off on comitting the story to paper was because I hadn’t finished my second Star Brigade manuscript just yet.

Around that time in 2009, many of my friends were going through what I call the ‘Thirty-Year Crisis,’ basically where many peeps who are at or near the big 3-0 realize they aren’t where they’d imagined it would be around this point in their lives.

So, I decided to write a story focusing on adults dealing with the between where they imagined they’d be and where they actually are in life. I’ve written the first kinda sentecne. Yay! More updates to come.

I share your enthusiasm for True Blood, I dare say even a bit more ardently from a …Alexandr Skarsgard point of view :))). A very addictive scenario …
