A Little Adjustment

Matt Damon called out Obama for not being the best thing ever in the history of American politics. I think we all realized back in 2008 that once Obama got into office, that thing called reality would set in and he’d hit a couple of impediments known as the Republican Party.

My thoughts?  Bare with me folks as I get a bit political.

Yeah, I’m a bit let down by certain things Obama hasn’t done and campaign promises he has flipped on. And I think Obama needs to realize that no matter what he does, even if he agrees with them, the Republicans will never accept him.  So he just needs to make the Democrats a more unified party and do what is best for the country.

But at the same time, Obama has had to deal with horrible issues out of his control. The Financial Crisis. The BP Oil Spill. Those areas really derailed a lot of his plans and unfortunately eroded public confidence in him, even though Obama had nothing to do with tsaid crises.

Plus, there are some issues Obama dealt with where it was smart to be the more level-headed party and compromise. Pick a larger issue to fight tooth and nail for. But that doesn’t mean he should compromise too much. But whatever. In short, he’s done some great things, but more needs to be done. And I think that it will take way longer than his four (or hopefully eight) years to fix a lot of what’s wrong with the US.

But speaking of Matt Damon, just saw The Adjustment Bureau, Hollywood’s latest stab at a Philip K. Dick adaptation. Very fun. Great chemistry between Emily Blunt and Matt Damon. Plus, I think the whole fate vs free will argument was well played. One of my favorite parts of the movie, even though it camer out sad, was when Matt Damon willingly walked away from Emily Blunt toward the middle of the film. In order to not kill her dreams of moving forward in the dancing world, he loved her enough to walk away. But at the same time, he only came for her after he found out that she wasn’t happy.

On a shallow note, damn is Emily Blunt hot! And the accent was the clincher. I’d totally see it again.
