Some good news. For starters, I finally finished my contemporary fiction novella today. Yay! Granted, it’s just the first draft, but done is still done. Now I just need to do some re-editing in the near future. My writing this novella had a three-fold goal:
1.) See if I could write a non-speculative fiction (sci-fi, fantasy etc) story.
2.) Write a novella that was under 50K words.
3.) Write a story that focused on only two perspectives instead of the many that we see in the STAR BRIGADE books.
Was I successful in all three areas? Absolutely. Also, it was fun to cleanse the palate a little before diving back into the sci-fi heavy STAR BRIGADE universe. Yet, before that even, I’ve got a new sci-fi short story to write that is also non-STAR BRIGADE related. I won’t reveal too much, but it will probably be part of an actual publication! Crazy, right?
Now, I can’t believe it took me so long to talk about my recent trip down to Atlanta early this month or that I didn’t even travel blog like I did on my Euro-Trip in April. Shame on me for that! I haven’t been down to Atlanta other than as an airport stopover for more than 20 years. And even then, we didn’t see much else other than the suburbs.
This time, I saw huge portions of downtown, caught a nice view of the CNN Center and World of Coca-Cola Museum, enjoyed good food and the good company of the friend I was staying with. Not only that, I got to rediscover certain geektastic hobbies that I had inadvertently drifted away from. Like video gaming and talking about my favorite sci-fi shows. It was a nice break from Los Angeles (which is essential as everyone who lives here knows).
More info on the short story this week. Til next time!
