Novellas

Cool thing happened. Was browsing through someone’s Facebook pictures and came up with a new novella idea. This concept came from a much less…what’s the word…base foundation than the first novella concept that came to me last year.

What was my idea from last year? Well, it was a romance dealing with the 30-year crisis. You know, the one that comes after the quarter-life crisis?

Details are still under wraps for now. But most importantly, coming up with this novella solidified my belief that I could craft tales beyond not just the Star Brigade series, but also science fiction stories.

Thirty-one

Another birthday has arrived. The big 3-1. Got some fun plans with family and friends.  Should be a good day. At this moment, I’m listening to an awesome remix of a Katy Perry song and working on the penultimate chapter of my second book’s rough draft.

Now I’ve known that I wanted to write since I was about 20 years old. But the older I’ve gotten, more solid that believe has become. In the time since the the first book, I’ve gotten ideas for several more Star Brigade and non-Star Brigade novels. I get excited about the idea of crafting these worlds and the blessing to have something I’m passionate about.

A connection

Who’d of thought a Sunday with the family would turn out so eye-opening?

So I’m leaving a relative’s house in the LA suburb of Rosemead, getting some gas  about a quarter mile away before starting the 40 minute drive back to the San Fernando Valley. During which I hear a loud pop, like a car backfiring. It was a bit startling but I went back to my business of half-filling my tank.

Less than a minute later, another gas station patron shouted out “Someone just got shot!”  I turned, and not 10-15 feet away from me on the street curb lay a bloody body. But by the slow heaving of his chest, he was still alive.
