I’ve never read the Hugo Award winning Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, but as a fan of the sci-fi genre of course I’ve heard of it. I also know that its taken a number of years to get this adaptation from book to silver screen. And like many people I’ve heard more than I care to about the author’s rather pointed personal views on same sex couples, which I completely disagree with on all levels. And like many, I planned to not see the film at all.
What changed? The big item was that a friend of mine and the company he works for did VFX for the film. You can check out the featurette on this below.
Pretty cool, right? Its not just him. Literally hundreds of people worked on the film. From the grips, the set designers, the director, the screenwriter, the actors, the musicians who crafted the score. Orson Scott Card will make his money no matter how many people boycott this film. But I choose to go not just to satisfy my curiosity as a sci-fi fan, but to support all those people who put their skills, their passion and their heart into the making of ‘Ender’s Game.’ Their work deserve to be seen and recognized.
Now, whether or not the finished movie product will be amazing, I still have no clue. What do you all think? More thoughts after I see it.
